ARCELORMITTAL COLD ROLLED
Cold-rolled sheet is a hot band that has been further processed through a pickle line for surface cleaning. It is then passed through a tandem mill for the desired gauge and thickness.
Cold-rolling or cold reduction, reduces gauge and hardens the steel. Further processing through an annealing furnace and temper mill improves ductility and formability. Cold-rolling can also impart various surface finishes and textures. Cold-rolled sheet is used for steel applications that demand higher surface quality, such as exposed automotive parts, office furniture and appliance panels. For certain applications, cold-rolled sheet can be coated or painted.

All flat-rolled coil steel is initially hot-rolled by passing a slab through a multi-stand hot rolling mill to produce a wide variety of thicknesses up to one inch thick. Modern state-of-the-art process control computers set up and monitor all the equipment necessary to roll and coil the steel to the customer's specifications.
Hot-rolled steel destined for the sheet market can be either shipped as a hot band or cleaned in an acid bath and sold as pickled band. Alloy products are also available. Hot-rolled products are used in non-critical surface applications such as:

It is a mill process which involves rolling the steel at a high temperature, which is above the steel’s recrystallisation temperature.
Often used in the manufacturing of staircases, the embossed teardrop pattern gives it excellent anti-slip properties, irrespective of whether the environment is dry, greasy or damp. Moreover, the pattern is almost indestructible. This is why the registered name is Vastrap®.

Pickled & Oiled coil is hot rolled material that has been descaled of oxide film by both mechanical and chemical methods and then oiled to help retard corrosion during storage and after descaling.

Cold rolled sheet is produced by processing hot rolled strip through a cold rolling process followed by annealing and/or temper rolling. This process will produce steel with thinner gauges, closer dimensional tolerances and a wider range of uncoated surface finishes.
